1968: Earth plays a gig at Le Teendezvous in New Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
1973: Daryl Hall and John Oates open for Bruce and the E Street Band at Max’s Kansas City in New York City. This is the first of a five-night/ten-show stand.
1974: “Semi-country” Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kick off a week of Texas shows with their first of two nights at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin.
1975: Bruce and the boys play their third of three nights at Arizona State University in Tempe on the Born to Run Tour.
1976: With the Palladium shows behind him Bruce takes a break from touring for the rest of the year. With time on his hands, Bruce heads into the city to visit DJ Richard Neer at New York’s WNEW-FM. The two have an on-the-air chat interspersed with records that Bruce selects for airplay. I’ve uploaded the interview but removed the in-between songs, so it might seem a little choppy at times. 1983: Bruce joins Cats on a Smooth Surface on stage at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park for “It’s All Over Now.”
1987: Bruce joins The Fabulous Grease Band on stage at a concert at Rumson Country Day School. The set was recorded off the soundboard and is a great listen.
1992: Bruce and his new touring band play their second of two nights at the Toronto Skydome, where “Spirit in the Night” makes its final tour appearance.
1999: Bruce plays his first-ever show in North Dakota, where “My Hometown” makes its U.S. Reunion Tour premiere.
2001: Live in New York City is released on DVD, featuring eleven songs not aired in the broadcast version.
2002: A scheduled Rising Tour show in Austin is postponed until the following March due to Clarence’s detached retina.
2004: Bruce joins Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers on stage for the fifth consecutive year at the annual Light of Day benefit concert. It’s just four days after Election Day, and the loss still stings. Bruce plays a particularly pointed set, and at the end of “This Hard Land,” you can hear him add, “No surrender!” Listen to the set below.
2006: The Seeger Sessions Tour arrives in Cologne, where Wolfgang Niedecken joins in the customary guest-star slot on “Pay Me My Money Down.”
2007: Magic is certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, barely a month after its original release.
2013: Bruce supports Stand Up for Heroes VII, now at New York’s Madison Square Garden, auctioning off a guitar (plus a lesson, plus his mom’s lasagna, plus an opportunity to join him at a recording session(!)) for $250,000 and playing a three-song acoustic set.
