1973: Daryl Hall and John Oates open for Bruce and the E Street Band for two shows at Max’s Kansas City in New York. This is the second of a five-night/ten-show stand.
1974: Bruce and the E Street Band play their second of two nights at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin.
1976: Songwriter Carl D’Errico (co-writer of “It’s My Life,” which Bruce performed a few days prior at the Palladium, with D’Errico in attendance) invites Bruce over to his house for dinner. Bruce accepts, dines, and jams with D’Errico that evening.
1978: Bruce plays the first rock concert at Cornell University ever to have reserved seat ticketing. During the show, Bruce debuts his “I Get Mad” interlude in “She’s the One.” The sound quality isn’t great, but you can listen to it below.
1987: Tunnel of Love reaches the Number 1 spot on the album charts in the U.S.
2006: Bruce premieres a new arrangement of “Blinded by the Light” to open his Seeger Sessions show in Antwerp.
2007: At Town Hall in New York City, Bruce supports Stand Up for Heroes, a benefit show for the Bob Woodruff Family Fund, sponsored by the New York Comedy Festival. Bruce plays three acoustic songs and auctions his motorcycle to support the foundation.
2009: Bruce and the E Street Band play the first of two very special full-album shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tonight, Night One, features Bruce’s first full performance of The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, featuring the tour premieres of “Wild Billy’s Circus Story” and “New York City Serenade.” The band is joined by full horn and string sections for the occasion, plus Richard Blackwell on conga, and Elvis Costello makes a guest appearance in the encores for “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.” This show is available as part of Bruce’s official archive series–get it here.
2016: On Election Eve, Bruce supports U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, performing three acoustic songs at a rally at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
2017: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City. In attendance tonight: John Fogerty.
2020: Bruce appears in the introduction video at Jon Landau’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
2022: Bruce makes his customary appearance at Stand Up For Heroes at David Geffen Hall in New York City. His four-song set features the public debut of “House of a Thousand Guitars.”
