Double-entry today: “Savin’ Up” is a Bruce Springsteen original composition, recorded by Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers, but performed live by Bruce on many occasions.
Before Bruce had Kevin Buell to lean on, when he broke a guitar string it was Clarence Clemons to the rescue. Originally a lark, Clarence’s rendition of “Gimme That Wine” became a genuine (if rare) highlight when on-stage misfortune would strike.
This melodic ancestor to “Jackson Cage” captures The Big Man standing just a bit too close to the mic.
