Preface

And so we’ve reached the end of the Cover Me series.

It’s incomplete, as it was always destined to be. Trying to catalog and chronicle every song Bruce Springsteen has ever covered is the very definition of chasing a moving target.

Even so, I’m sure some of you will notice the absence of a few classics. I’m at peace with it, though. John Fogerty has so many entries in this series that I can forgive myself for never getting around to “Proud Mary.” (I did write an entry for “Travelin’ Band” specifically for this book, though. That one I couldn’t leave out.)

There is, however, one particular cover that will probably render you aghast if and when you realize its omission. That’s intentional, because I always intended it to be the last essay I would ever write for the blog. It’ll see publication as the last entry in Volume 50 of the Bookshelf Collection sometime in late 2027 or early 2028.

Thanks for reading Cover Me over the years. This was the series I always enjoyed writing the most.  I hope you enjoy reading the final collection.
