1973: Bruce is in the studio, working on his second album at 914 Sound Studios in Blauvelt, New York. Today he works on “Wild Billy’s Circus Story.”
1974: A scheduled gig–the first of a planned six-night stand–at Lafayette’s Music Room in Memphis is cancelled.
1978: The Pacific Northwest leg of the Darkness Tour continues with a stop at the Paramount Theater in Seattle.
1984: Bruce and the E Street Band rehearse one last time before kicking off the Born in the U.S.A. Tour. Following her successful audition the day before, Bruce invites Patti Scialfa to join the band effective immediately. She accepts on the spot.
1985: The French leg of the Born in the U.S.A. Tour continues with a show in Saint-Etienne, where Bruce plays “No Surrender” for the very first time in Europe.
1988: The Tunnel of Love Tour stops in London for one show at Wembley Stadium, where Bruce plays “Love Me Tender” for the last time to date. Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl around Bruce and Patti.
1992: Bruce’s World Tour 1992 arrives in Frankfurt for the first of two nights. Watch CNN coverage of the show below.
1993: David Letterman films his final episode on NBC before moving to CBS and turning his NBC show over to Conan O’Brien. To mark the occasion, Bruce drops by as a surprise guest and performs “Glory Days,” momentarily taking over leadership of the house band. Watch the band have the time of their lives below.
2003: The European leg of the Rising Tour hits the home stretch with this show in Vienna, featuring a full-band “Incident on 57th Street.”
2005: Four tour premieres when the Devils & Dust Tour stops in Stockholm, including “Downbound Train,” “Across the Border,” “Blinded by the Light,” and the first “Walk Like a Man” in 17 years. This show is available for purchase as part of Bruce’s official archive series–get it here.
2006: The American leg of the Seeger Sessions Tour wraps up with a second show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Bruce closes out the leg with a tour premiere: “The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze.”
2008: When the Magic Tour comes to Milan, Bruce opens with “Summertime Blues,” closes with the tour premiere of “Twist and Shout,” and treats fans to the first European performance of “None But the Brave.”
2016: At Night One in Gothenburg on the River Tour sequel, Bruce opens with the tour premiere of “The Promise,” played solo on piano. “Tunnel of Love” and “Shackled and Drawn” also make their first appearances of the tour.
2021: Bruce holds an invite-only dress rehearsal for the return engagement of Springsteen on Broadway at the St. James Theater in New York City.
2022: Bruce reprises his recent appearance with Paul McCartney, this time in England at the Glastonbury Festival. Once again, Bruce joins Sir Paul for “Glory Days” and “I Wanna Be Your Man.” Bruce returns with Dave Grohl for “The End.”
