New for 2023: Video and audio for 2000

1972: John Hammond sends the demos that Bruce recorded on May 3 to Clive Davis, president of Columbia Records. He includes a note that reads:

Here is a copy of a couple of the reels of Bruce Springsteen, a very talented kid who recorded these twelve songs in a period of around two hours last Wednesday . . . I think we better act quickly because many people heard the boy at The Gaslight so that his fame is beginning to spread.

1976: Bruce continues his Chicken Scratch Tour of the south with a show at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

1981: Night Two in Stockholm for the original River Tour opens with Bruce’s last known performance of “Run Through the Jungle” and features the European debut of “The Price You Pay.”

1982: Bruce guests with Beaver Brown at The Fast Lane in Asbury Park for “Jole Blon,” “Jersey Girl,” “Lucille,” and “Around and Around.”

1992: MTV’s Week in Rock features an interview with Bruce to promote his upcoming tour and Saturday Night Live appearance.

1996: Bruce wraps the first European leg of his solo acoustic tour with a show in Madrid. After the show, Bruce heads to a local nightclub where Sony is holding a reception for him. At the party, Bruce receives his official award for The Ghost of Tom Joad reaching platinum sales status in Europe. Watch the Spanish TV interview footage below, along with video from the show.

2000: Bruce and the E Street band play their second of two shows at the Hartford Civic Center, opening with the first performance of “Roulette” in almost twelve years.

2003: The second of two Rising shows at Stadion Feyenoord in Rotterdam features a solo acoustic “Darkness on the Edge of Town.”

2005: Devils & Dust captures the Number One slot on the U.S. album chart, Bruce’s 13th studio album to accomplish that feat.

2006: As the Seeger Sessions Tour rolls into London, Bruce plays his first show at the Hammersmith Odeon (now called the Hammersmith Apollo) since his original famed 1975 stand.

2009: Bruce takes the Working on a Dream Tour to Penn State University, where he performs “My Generation” for the first time. The set also includes the tour premieres of “This Life,” “Bobby Jean,” and “Wooly Bully.”

2013: The second Wrecking Ball show in Turku features the live premiere of “Wages of Sin,” the tour debut of “I’ll Work For Your Love,” and a rare “Ain’t Good Enough for You.” (photo credit: Jan Alin)

2017: At The Upstage in Asbury Park, Bruce films an interview for the documentary Just Before the Dawn: Riot, Redemption, Rock ‘n’ Roll.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

2019: Three days after joining them on stage in Los Angeles, Bruce guest-stars with Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, playing the same three songs as in Los Angeles.

2021: Bruce joins Nona Hendryx and Lauren Onkey on a panel discussion about the work and impact of Dave Marsh.
