New for 2024: Video for 2016

1973: Bruce and the (not yet named) E Street Band play a gig at Niagara University in Lewiston, New York. Meanwhile, a couple of hours away in Ithaca, the local paper publishes a review of Bruce’s recently released debut album. Keep an eye on him, the reviewer advises.

1974: Bruce and the band perform on a revolving stage at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix. After the show, Bruce grants a fascinating interview to The Phoenix New Times and Arizona State University. You can listen to it below–it’s well worth it.

1977: Bruce and the E Street Band play their third of four nights at Boston’s Music Hall in the final stand of the Lawsuit Tour. This show features the debut of Jackie Wilson’s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher.”

1981:  Bruce postpones a scheduled show in Manchester in order to recover from the first two legs of the River Tour.

1983: In his home studio in Los Angeles, Bruce records “County Fair.” It will remain unreleased for two decades.

1985: Night Three of five in Sydney on the Born in the U.S.A. Tour.

1995: Bruce joins The Blasters on stage at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, backing the band on guitar for two numbers. (Photo credit: J. Coke)

2008: Bruce plays “You’ll Be Comin’ Down” for the first and only time when the Magic Tour stops at the Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The set list also features the tour premieres of “Something in the Night” and “Sherry Darling.”

2009: The second and final rehearsal show for the Working on a Dream Tour features the live premiere of “Kingdom of Days” at Asbury Park’s Convention Hall.

2013: The Australian leg of the Wrecking Ball Tour moves on to Melbourne for the first of three nights at the Rod Laver Arena.

2016: The revived River Tour finally loosens up in Seattle when Bruce takes sign requests for much of the post-album set and tour premieres “Adam Raised a Cain.” Eddie Vedder joins Bruce for “Bobby Jean” in the encores. For more highlights, see my Where the Band Was report for this show.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City, where Bruce acknowledges the protesters who marched in demonstration throughout the U.S. earlier that day.

2020: Bruce appears in a promotional video to announce the launch of the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. This is his first public appearance since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021: Bruce sends a video message out to remember Austalian promotor Michael Gudiski, who passed away on March 2nd, and dedicates “I’ll See You in My Dreams” to him.
