New for 2024: Audio for 2003; new entry for 2006 and 2023; review for 2008

1974: Bruce plays his first-ever show in Texas, at Houston’s Liberty Hall–the first of seven shows at this venue in four days. Photographer Nicki Germaine is on hand to photograph the band, but it will be almost a half-century before fans can enjoy her wonderful photos. Order her new book, Springsteen: Liberty Hall here.

1975: Bruce and the E Street Band play a show at the Painters Mill Music Fair in Owings Mills, Maryland.

1976: Bruce joins Carole King on stage at the Beacon Theater in New York City in a surprise appearance during the encore of the final night of King’s stand. Bruce and Carole sing “The Loco-Motion” together.

1985: We Are the World,” a benefit single recorded by United Support of Artists for Africa (a collection of musicians that includes Bruce) is released. Both the single and video feature Bruce’s distinctive vocals, and the single will go on to sell more than twenty million copies.

2003: Bruce and the band play their first show on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, opening with (of course) “Atlantic City,” closing with a scene-appropriate “Roll of the Dice” and featuring a rare cover of the Beatles’ “Tell Me Why” and the tour premiere of “Jersey Girl.” Listen to the soundcheck and highlights below.

2006: At a listening party preview for We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York City, Bruce previews five songs from the upcoming album and chats with fans.

2008: Detroit Medley” and “Buffalo Gals” make their Magic Tour premiere at HSBC Arena in Buffalo.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

2023: Bruce and the E Street Band return to the scene of the crime, harkening back to their infamous bomb scare show several times throughout the evening at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. “Death to My Hometown” makes its tour debut tonight.
