1971: Ten days after Steel Mill plays their final show, Bruce is already in the market for talent for a new band. This help wanted ad runs in the Asbury Park Press today.

1974: Bruce and the band headline at Springfield College, where a snowstorm keeps all but about 30 people from attending. When the power goes out during the show, Bruce switches to solo piano.

1981: The River Tour (original version) moves on to Dane County Memorial Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin.

1987: Live 1975-85 is certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

1992: Bruce and Patti are in New Orleans filming the video for “Human Touch.” That evening, they drop by the Maple Leaf Bar, where the Iguanas are playing. Introduced by a pseudonym, Bruce joins the band for “Ain’t That a Shame,” “Save the Last Dance for Me” and “Betty Jean.”

2016: The River Tour (2016 edition) makes a single stop in Canada, at the Air Center in Toronto.

2017: The Australian Summer Tour moves to Melbourne. Finding it embarrassing to represent America during the early days of the Trump Administration, Bruce makes a statement by opening with an acoustic cover of The Orlon’s “Don’t Hang Up,” dedicated to Prime Minister Turnbull after Trump hung up on their call the previous day. Bruce follows up with “American Land” and also includes a solo acoustic “Long Walk Home” in the encores, bookending the show with pointed statements.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

  1. “This is a song I wrote during the Bush Administration, but I guess it still applies.” (Bruce, Melbourne, 2.2.17, introducing “Long Walk Home”. )
