New for 2024: Article for 1985; video for 2015; new entry for 2023

1969: For a short time, Bruce led a band called Earth. On this date, the band plays a two-hour show at Le Teendezvous in New Shrewsbury, New Jersey.

1985: On a “rest” day during the Born in the U.S.A. Tour, Bruce and Nils stop by the Rhinoceros Club in Greensboro to catch the Del Fuegos. Bruce compliments the band on their album, and the band invites him to join them on stage–which of course he does, playing “Hang on Sloopy” and “Stand by Me.”

1990: At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, Bruce joins the all-star jam, trading lead vocals with John Fogerty on “Long Tall Sally.”

1996: Bruce plays the second of two acoustic shows at the Cleveland Music Hall.

2009: Bruce rehearses at the Lincoln Memorial for his upcoming performance at Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration.

2015: Another “surprise” Light of Day appearance. Bruce plays with Willie Nile, La Bamba’s Big Band and Friends, Southside Johnny, and Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers. A highlight of the show: a rare and gorgeous solo performance of “Janey, Don’t You Lose Heart.”

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

2020: Bruce and Patti chair the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation’s fundraising gala. After personally raising $350,000 by auctioning off a signed motorcycle, signed guitar, front-row concert tickets and dinner, Bruce and Patti join the house band for a Wilson Pickett double-shot.

2023: Bruce and the E Street Band rehearse for their upcoming world tour at The Vogel in Red Bank, New Jersey. The opening block of the setlist is now firmly in place.
