New for 2024: Video for 2010; new entry for 2023

1973: Bruce and the not-yet-named E Street Band play Villanova University in a 150-seat auditorium more than two-thirds unfilled. (The school newspaper is on strike, so the concert goes unadvertised.) Imagine an E Street Band concert in front of no more than fifty people!

1985:The second of two shows at the Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Watch one hour of the show in great video quality (given the age of the footage and the equipment) below.

1991: At the sixth Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Bruce performs “People Get Ready” with Jackson Browne, Don Henley, and Chaka Khan before joining the all-star closing jam on “Mustang Sally” and “In the Midnight Hour.”

1996:  Bruce plays the first of two acoustic shows at the Cleveland Music Hall.

2001: Bruce releases an updated video anthology, retitled Video Anthology 1978-2000.

2010: A Light of Day guest appearance, with Bruce joining Willie Nile for “Heaven Help the Lonely,” Jesse Malin for “Broken Radio,” and Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers for a full set.

2016: The River (2016) tour kicks off in Pittsburgh, featuring the entire double-album played start to finish, the live premiere of “Meet Me in the City,” and a tribute to the recently departed David Bowie, “Rebel Rebel.” For more highlights from this show, see my Where the Band Was report.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

2023: Bruce rehearses backgrounds with Soozie Tyrell and The E Street Choir at The Vogel in Red Bank, New Jersey, in preparation for their upcoming world tour. First hand reports from fans (including this blogger) listening at the stage door confirming rare piano run-throughs of songs like “Badlands” and “Dancing in the Dark.”
