New for 2023: Advertisement for 1970; video for 1995

1958: Nine-year-old Bruce Springsteen celebrates Thanksgiving with his family. (Can you spot him?)

1970: Steel Mill opens for two Cactus and Black Sabbath shows at Asbury Park’s Sunshine In.

1971: The Bruce Springsteen Band is in residence at the Student Prince in Asbury Park.

1978: The holidays are approaching! When Bruce and the E Street Band bring the Darkness Tour to the Mecca Arena in Milwaukee, they dust off “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” for the season.

1980: Bruce plays a Thanksgiving Day concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and he tells a special Thanksgiving-themed story during “Growin’ Up” to mark the occasion.

1982: Bruce joins Jimmy and The Mustangs on stage at Club Lingerie in Hollywood for “Twist and Shout.”

1995: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno features a guest appearance by Bruce, who performs “The Ghost of Tom Joad.” The performance will eventually be released on Video Anthology.

Bruce’s appearance was taped during the day. That night, he plays his second of two shows at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, where Bruce debuts a brand new song, “It’s the Little Things That Count.”

2018: One day prior to the beginning of the last leg of Springsteen on Broadway, the promotional push for Bruce’s Netflix special begins with the publication of a feature article in Esquire.
