1949: E Street Band bassist and tuba-ist Garry W. Tallent is born in Detroit.
1974: Bruce cancels a scheduled show at Millersville University when he wakes up that morning with laryngitis.
1976: Bruce’s second ever show at the Philadelphia Spectrum features a unique “Something in the Night,” with a new last verse that is never heard again.
1977: At The Record Plant in New York City, Bruce records “Iceman” and “Preacher’s Daughter.” The former will not be released for more than two decades; the latter remains in the vault to this day.
1980: Bruce and the E Street Band bring the River Tour to the Oakland Coliseum for the first of two shows.
1996: Bruce speaks and performs at a rally in Los Angeles, urging voters to reject Proposition 209 and protect affirmative action policy.
1998: Bruce grants an interview for BBC’s A Secret History documentary and performs a couple of songs for the show at The Saint in Asbury Park. The documentary will air in December to promote the upcoming Tracks collection.
2002: Bruce and the E Street Band wrap the first European leg of the Rising Tour at Wembley Arena in London.
2012: Bruce performs an acoustic set at a re-election rally for President Obama at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh. Later that night, he tour premieres “Pretty Flamingo” followed by a rare “Talk to Me” at his Wrecking Ball show at the Consol Arena. Joe and Johnny Grushecky guest-star during the encores.
2016: Bruce makes an appearance and meets fans at Indigo Bay & Bloor in Toronto.
