Today marks the end of Year One for this blog, and whether you’ve been with me from the beginning (which would be like five of you) or you just discovered this site for the first time today, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for reading, following, commenting, liking and/or sharing.

Special thanks to those of you who have written to me with corrections, additional information, absolutely amazing “I was there” stories, personal anecdotes, and alternative interpretations. That’s been my absolute favorite part of the last year, and as a result I definitely feel like I’ve learned at least as much as I’ve shared. I’ve also made a lot of great new friends through the social media channels I share my blog posts in, and you all have made this a labor of love in now multiples senses.

When I started this blog, I didn’t set out to keep a daily schedule–I just kind of fell into it, and once I realized it, I challenged myself to keep it up. Today marks 365 consecutive days of new content, and this post makes the grand total for the year a whopping 795 posts. I don’t foresee breaking that streak any time soon.

Today also marks the end of the year-long “Kingdom of Days” series–but tomorrow marks a new beginning!

Starting tomorrow, I’ll be reblogging the daily “Kingdom of Days” entries, and the vast majority of them should feature minor to significant updates. Since the posts are now all written, that frees up about 50% of my blogging time to focus on more uploads of rare video, obscure shows, and more. This past year, I tended to upload a track or two to spotlight; this year, I’ll try to upload entire shows as often as I can.

(This is probably as good a time as any to recommend checking out our companion youtube channel. It features the hundreds of videos I’ve uploaded this past year, and I add new content almost daily. Everything there appears simultaneously on this blog as well, so it’s purely personal preference as to whether you find it worth subscribing to either/both.)

In addition, I’ll continue to spotlight an original Springsteen song, cover, or team-up each day, and I’ll be introducing at least one new post series as well in the near future, spotlighting some of my favorite Bruce-related resources, blogs, podcasts, etc. I just did a quick tally of articles left to write based on the above… and it’s more than 1,100. Looks like we’re just getting started.

Thanks again for reading. I hope you stick around for Year Two!

Ken

  1. Thank you Ken for your daily Blogs that I really looked forward to. Sometimes I would get behind on reading them and then I would relish the idea of reading several of them at a time. Like reading a good book!
    Happy New Year!

  2. I can’t even remember how I found this blog but I’m really happy I did! I get around 150-200 emails every day (damn politics!) but Kingdom of Days is one of the very few emails that I take the time to read almost every single day! Thank you Ken, for all the work you’ve put into making this great resource. I look forward to Year 2!

  3. Ken,

There are not enough words to thank you for doing this. I just love it. I’ll try to share a few stories, too.

    Jan 9, 1980. I was there.

  4. Thank you for all of the hard work and research that you put into these emails, posts and blogs. I really appreciate it and I will definitely be around for year two. I still remember exactly when and where I was when I was introduced to Bruce and E-Street back in 1975 when Born to Run was released. After falling in love with BTR I went out and bought Greetings and Wild and Innocent. I’ve listen to Bruce close to every day since. I’ve only been able to see him live 3 times, the last one was almost 2 years ago in Los Angeles for The River tour. Anyway, thanks again, keep up the great work.

  5. Ken,
Thank you for all that you do. The content you produce and share for the blog is fabulous. I found the blog after you appeared on Jesse Jackson’s “Set Lusting Bruce” podcast. I look forward to reading “Kingdom of Days” every morning!

  8. I found your blog through a post on btx about five months ago. The daily history lesson on Bruce has been fascinating. I hope to share some stories on the numerous shows I attended through the years with you. Your dedication is to be commended.
