One of my all-time favorite Bruce covers: “Don’t Look Back” by The Knack.  (I’m a child of the 1980s. No apologies.)

If you’re gonna cover a Bruce Springsteen song, you either need to reinvent it or completely commit to it. These guys did the latter–and they wisely chose a song so well suited to their style that you could be forgiven for assuming it was their own material.

  1. This is a great cover version, and it is much better than anything attempted by Manfred Mann during the 1970’s with three of Bruce’s songs. The Knack nailed it with their power pop approach. Although I prefer Bruce’s original version, especially when it was initially performed as the second song in the setlist after “Night” during March of 1977, this a a cover version that does justice to the rebellious nature of the original.
