Some of these songs are more substantial than others, and today&#8217;s entry is definitely on the slighter side&#8211;lyrically speaking, at least.<\/p>\n<div id=\"v-yN6OHFQl-1\" class=\"video-player\"><iframe title='VideoPress Video Player' aria-label='VideoPress Video Player' width='758' height='426' src='https:\/\/videopress.com\/embed\/yN6OHFQl?hd=1&amp;cover=1&amp;loop=0&amp;autoPlay=0&amp;permalink=1&amp;muted=0&amp;controls=1&amp;playsinline=0&amp;useAverageColor=0&amp;preloadContent=metadata' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen data-resize-to-parent=\"true\" allow='clipboard-write; presentation'><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Why&#8217;d You Do That&#8221; has all of nine unique lines, none of which provide any semblance of story or metaphor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>I still got your picture hanging up upon my wall<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I can still remember the day you gave it to me<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You were kinda long and tall<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>And they say I didn&#8217;t ???<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Honey why&#8217;d you do that<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Well goodbye New Jersey, look out New York City here I come<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You better watch out, you know I wanna get to you<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I gotta get out on the run<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>?? night and day, everything&#8217;s gonna be ok<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But let&#8217;s not hold that against him. Written and performed at the tender age of twenty, Bruce&#8217;s lyrics for &#8220;Why&#8217;d You Do That&#8221; are just a coat rack for the band to cut loose on some epic jams&#8211;and with only a core four on the stage (Bruce, Steven Van Zandt, Danny Federici, and Vini Lopez), each member gets a chance to shine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Why&#8217;d You Do That&#8221; showed up a\u00a0 few times during the summer and fall of 1970, only to disappear shortly before the band broke up in the early days of 1971.
