{"id":310,"date":"2018-01-20T05:00:32","date_gmt":"2018-01-20T13:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/?p=310"},"modified":"2024-01-01T14:26:22","modified_gmt":"2024-01-01T22:26:22","slug":"cover-me-will-you-love-me-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/index.php\/2018\/01\/20\/cover-me-will-you-love-me-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"Cover Me: Will You Love Me Tomorrow?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re taking the way-way-WAY-back machine today:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Will You Love Me Tomorrow,&#8221; written and recorded by Carole King, covered here by&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom!<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-310-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/06-Will-You-Still-Love-Me-Tomorrow-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/06-Will-You-Still-Love-Me-Tomorrow-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3\">http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/06-Will-You-Still-Love-Me-Tomorrow-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>Bruce&#8217;s shortest-lived band, Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom lasted all of two gigs, but it&#8217;s not hard to hear glimmers of the future E Street Band: Bruce, Stevie, Garry, Vini, and David Sancious are already present, and while the Big Man hadn&#8217;t yet made the scene, there are saxophones (two) in the house.<\/p>\n<p>On stage, there were almost as many backup singers as musicians, and while you&#8217;re picturing that assemblage while you listen to this performance,\u00a0 add to your mental vision an on-stage Monopoly game and baton twirler (seriously), and you&#8217;ll pretty much have the scene captured.<\/p>\n<p>(Note: I realize that this song was originally recorded by The Shirelles in 1960, but this arrangement is far more similar to Carole King&#8217;s version on\u00a0<em>Tapestry<\/em>. Given that\u00a0<em>Tapestry\u00a0<\/em>was released in February 1971, just a few months before this Dr. Zoom performance, I&#8217;m inclined to think that Bruce had Carole&#8217;s version in mind rather than the original Shirelles recording. And since Carole also co-wrote the song, I&#8217;m crediting this cover to her.)<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display:
