{"id":18298,"date":"2020-05-26T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/?p=18298"},"modified":"2020-05-25T19:43:44","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T02:43:44","slug":"cover-me-jericho-seb-martel-the-ghost-of-tom-joad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/index.php\/2020\/05\/26\/cover-me-jericho-seb-martel-the-ghost-of-tom-joad\/","title":{"rendered":"Cover Me, Jericho &#038; Seb Martel: The Ghost of Tom Joad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wow.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s an absolute flood of Springsteen covers being released by artists during the global shutdown, and while I try to watch them all, it&#8217;s tough to find the time or the quiet to pay full attention.<\/p>\n<p>But when I came across this cover of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/index.php\/2019\/10\/17\/roll-of-the-dice-the-ghost-of-tom-joad\/\">The Ghost of Tom Joad<\/a>&#8221; by French singer-songwriter Jericho with Seb Martel on lap steel, I found myself unable to look away.<\/p>\n<p>This may be the single most impassioned performance (in acoustic form, at least) I&#8217;ve ever heard of Bruce&#8217;s oft-covered song.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"758\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qt9GpDjeSGI?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Jericho&#8217;s cover is intended to raise awareness for relief efforts in Montreuil, a Parisian suburb. There&#8217;s no link in the video for donations, though, just instructions for locals who want to help.<\/p>\n<p>So if you&#8217;re moved by his outstanding cover and want to help but aren&#8217;t local, perhaps find an organization working to help struggling families in our own communities.<\/p>\n<p>Stay healthy, and stay safe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jericho and Seb Martel&#8217;s cover of &#8220;The Ghost of Tom Joad&#8221;
