{"id":13626,"date":"2020-02-08T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-08T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/?p=13626"},"modified":"2022-06-28T20:06:25","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T03:06:25","slug":"cover-me-david-gray-streets-of-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/08\/cover-me-david-gray-streets-of-philadelphia\/","title":{"rendered":"Cover Me, David Gray: Streets of Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Singer-songwriter David Gray stopped by the BBC Radio 2 studio recently to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his <em>White Ladder<\/em> album.<\/p>\n<p>Gray played a few songs from his milestone album live on the air, and he added a special cover as well: Bruce&#8217;s award-winning &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/estreetshuffle.com\/index.php\/2021\/06\/30\/roll-of-the-dice-streets-of-philadelphia\/\">Streets of Philadelphia<\/a>.&#8221; It&#8217;s a quiet performance that feels unplanned, and it was captured in terrific quality by the studio crew.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"758\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cs6agm-IZEw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Performed solo on the electric piano, Gray&#8217;s arrangement sounds like it would have been right at home on Bruce&#8217;s 2005 Devils &amp; Dust Tour.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, that guy in the glasses sitting and watching? That&#8217;s Abba&#8217;s Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus, also in the studio that day. Too bad he didn&#8217;t join in.<\/p>\n<p>That wasn&#8217;t the first time Gray has played &#8220;Streets of Philadelphia&#8221; live though.
