1973: Bruce and his band headline two shows at My Father’s Place in Roslyn, New York.

1974: Bruce and the E Street Band play a show at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

1979: Bruce appears on the cover of Rolling Stone as part of their cover feature on the MUSE events from September.

1980: Bruce changes up the setlist on Night Two at The Summit in Houston on the River Tour, playing nine songs not played the previous night.

1984: The Born in the U.S.A. Tour stops at the St. Louis Arena. Check out the news footage below.

1990: Bruce appears on the cover of Rolling Stones’s special issue on the 1980s.

1992: Bruce and his new touring band bring World Tour 1992 to the Hartford Civic Center for a night.

Meanwhile, for those of us not at the show, The Ben Stiller show gets educational with a lesson on “Counting with Bruce Springsteen.”

1999: On Night Two in Cleveland on the Reunion Tour, Bruce and the E Street Band debut a new country-ish arrangement of “No Surrender” and soundcheck a unique “State Trooper.”

2005: A special 30th Anniversary Edition of Born to Run is released today, featuring a new documentary (Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run) and a new live album (Hammersmith Odeon: London ’75). To mark the occasion, NPR airs a new interview with Bruce by Terry Gross.

2007: The Magic Tour comes to Albany, where Bruce and the E Street Band tour premiere a Wild & Innocent double-header: “4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)” and “The E Street Shuffle.”

2009: Bruce has a laugh at his own expense, greeting his Milwaukee crowd with “Good evening, Ohio!” (a nod to the mistake he’d made legitimately the show before). The show itself opens with “Cadillac Ranch” and includes the tour premiere of “Living Proof” by request, along with rare outings for “Loose Ends,” “Kitty’s Back,” and “Jole Blon” and a complete album performance of Born to Run.

2010: Bruce appears on Sirius XM radio for a Q&A with fans to celebrate the release of The Promise: Darkness on the Edge of Town.

2012: Bruce’s Wrecking Ball show in Omaha is the closest we’ve come to a full-album Nebraska performance, with six songs from that album played, three of which are tour premieres. We’re also getting close to the holidays now, which means it’s time for Santa Claus to come to town.

2017: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

2022: On the second night of his Tonight Show takeover, Bruce premieres “Turn Back the Hands of Time.”
