1969: Child plays their second of six consecutive nights at the Pandemonium in Wanamassa, New Jersey.
1974: Bruce reschedules a planned gig at The Stone Balloon in Newark, Delaware for the following month.
1978: Bruce and the E Street Band bring the Darkness Tour to the New Orleans Municipal Auditorium, where the setlist features Bruce’s one and only cover of “Honky Tonk.”
1979: At The Power Station in New York City, Bruce records “Ricky Wants a Man of Her Own” and “Cindy.” The former won’t be released for almost twenty years, the latter not for another fifteen years after that.
1981: Bruce’s five-night River stand at The Spectrum in Philly continues.
1983: Bruce guest-stars with Midnight Thunder for six songs at The Headliner in Neptune, New Jersey, including “Lucille,” “Wooly Bully,” and “Keep-a-Knockin‘.”
1984: On a night off in between Born in the U.S.A. shows in Chicago, Bruce is spotted playing pinball at a local bar.
1994: Bruce (along with Jon Bon Jovi, Patti, and Max) celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Stone Pony by joining Southside Johnny on stage for seven songs, including “I Played the Fool,” “Funky Broadway,” and “Jersey Girl.”
2002: Bruce and the E Street Band rehearse for the upcoming Rising Tour.
2005: The Devils & Dust Tour returns to the U.S., and the first show of the leg is at the Pepsi Arena in Albany. Bruce tour premieres “Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street” for the occasion.
2009: Bruce and the band bring the Working on a Dream Tour to Carhaix, France. The show is partially broadcast on French radio–listen to excerpts below:
2013: Bruce opens his show in Limerick with the tour premiere of “This Little Light of Mine” and closes it the same way. In between, fans enjoy the tour premiere of “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and a full album performance of Born to Run. If you count a three-song pre-show, this show also features the live debut of “Hearts of Stone” at one of Bruce’s own shows.
2016: A stunning opening number at a magical venue: The Roma Sinfonietta strings join the E Street Band for “New York City Serenade” to kick off Bruce’s first show at the ancient Circus Maximus in Rome. “Summertime Blues” and “The Ghost of Tom Joad” also make their tour premieres. 2021: Springsteen on Broadway continues its limited return engagement at the St. James Theater in New York City. In attendance tonight: John Mellencamp and Clark Gayton.
