New for 2024: Video for 2016

1968: The Castiles headline two shows at the Off Broad Street Coffee House in Red Bank, New Jersey.

1970: Steel Mill headlines a show at the Clearwater Swim Club in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. The band plays to their largest crowd yet–about 4,000 people–and Garry Tallent’s band Glory Road opens the show.

1973: David Sancious makes his E Street Band debut at the band’s gig at Fat City in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

1974: Bruce and the E Street Band play two shows on their second of three consecutive nights at Le Garage on Long Beach Island.

1976: Bruce shaves his beard completely off. It hasn’t been seen since.

1981: Bruce and the E Street Band play at Max Weinberg’s wedding in East Orange, New Jersey.

1988: At Night Two at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on the Tunnel of Love Tour, Edwin Starr drops by to perform “War” with the band.

2000: The Reunion Tour’s last stand reaches its halfway point on Night Five at Madison Square Garden. Surprises continue starting with the opener: the premiere of “Another Thin Line.” Late in the set, lucky fans get the tour premiere of “Secret Garden” as well, plus a guest appearance by Soozie Tyrell on a beautiful arrangement of “The Ghost of Tom Joad.”

2003: Night Two in Gothenburg on the Rising Tour.

2005: The Devils & Dust Tour heads north to Copenhagen, where Bruce tour premieres “Straight Time,” “Spirit in the Night,” and “Wild Billy’s Circus Story.”

2006: Bruce opens with the debut of a new song at his Seeger Sessions show in Madison Square Garden: “American Land.” This is the performance that is included on the American Land edition of We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions.

2010: Bruce releases London Calling: Live in Hyde Park.

2012: Bruce and the E Street Band continue the Wrecking Ball Tour’s mini-leg through England with a show at Ethiad Stadium in Manchester, where Curt Ramm takes a header to the stage during his solo on “Twist and Shout,” to the amazement and amusement of Bruce, who has trouble keeping his composure for the rest of the song.

2013: A rarity: Bruce and the E Street Band have an opening act when they play at Nijmegen in The Netherlands: Jamie N Commons and The Black Crowes kick off the night. Bruce opens his set with an acoustic “The Ghost of Tom Joad” and performs the entire Darkness on the Edge of Town album.

2016: The River Tour starts a northern European swing with a show at Telia Parken in Copenhagen, where Bruce tour premieres “Rendezvous,” “Blinded by the Light,” We Take Care of Our Own,” and “Pink Cadillac.” This show is available to stream or purchase here.

2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.

    To be a pedant I recall he sported a fine goatee beard during the “other band” era in the 90s.
