1973: At Madison Square Garden, Bruce and his band play their thirteenth and final show as the opening act for Chicago. This was a notoriously bad tour for the band, playing to huge but unreceptive (and sometimes booing) crowds. Bruce resolves never to play big halls again, and he sticks to it… for a while.
1974: Under record label pressure to release a new single, Bruce and the E Street Band cancel a show at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin.
1981: Bruce joins Gary U.S. Bonds on stage at Old Waldorf in San Francisco, performing “This Little Girl” for the first time ever along with his one and only performance of “School Is Out.”
1983: At The Hit Factory in New York City, Bruce records “Cynthia” and “Don’t Back Down.” The former won’t be released for another fifteen years; the latter is unreleased to this day.
1985: The Born in the U.S.A. Tour moves on to West Germany for two nights, starting with a show in Frankfurt.
1988: “Bobby Jean” makes its Tunnel of Love Tour premiere at the first of two nights at Stadio Flaminio in Rome. Earlier in the day, a photographer catches Bruce in a state of undress with Patti, outing their rumored affair.
1992: World Tour 1992 kicks off with the first of two shows at the Globe Arena in Stockholm. A few songs are captured in professional quality video, and you can watch them below.
1999: “Take ’em as They Come” makes its live debut when Bruce and the E Street Band bring the Reunion Tour to Offenbach, Germany.
2000: Night Two of the final ten-night stand of the Reunion Tour opens with “Further On (Up the Road)” at Madison Square Garden and features another powerful “American Skin (41 Shots).”
2004: Patti Scialfa releases her long-awaited second album, 23rd Street Lullaby and plays a promotional free mini-concert in New York City for NBC’s Today. Watch her full performance below.
2005: The Devils & Dust Tour moves on to Frankfurt, where Bruce tour premieres “Countin’ on a Miracle.”
2013: Bruce makes his first appearance at the new Wembley Stadium, where he plays the Darkness on the Edge of Town album from start to finish.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.
