New for 2024: Video for 2014; new entry for 2023
1968: The Castiles play a gig at Le Teendezvous in New Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
1973: Bruce and the E Street Band open for Blood, Sweat & Tears at Berkeley Community Theater.
1974: Bruce cancels a show in Parsippany, New Jersey due to illness.
1975: Another cancellation, this one in Syracuse, due to a conflict with recording sessions for Born to Run.
1977: The Lawsuit Tour makes its way to Atlanta’s Civic Center Auditorium.
1981: The River Tour moves on to the Hampton Roads Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia.
1986: A rare “E Street Sneak Attack” as the entire band (minus Roy) plays a set at The Stone Pony, where standard songs are given new life with extended jams and solos.
1988: Bruce wins the Best Rock Vocal Performance (Solo) Grammy Award for “Tunnel of Love.” Although he’s also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance (Male) for “Brilliant Disguise” and Best Rock Instrumental Performance (Orchestra, Group or Soloist) for “Paradise by the ‘C’,” he fails to win either.
1996: Bruce plays a solo acoustic show at City Hall in Newcastle, England.
1998: Bruce joins Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers for a set at Nick’s Fat City in Pittsburgh.
2003: Joe Ely joins the E Street Band for “All Just to Get to You” and “Working on the Highway” during the Austin stop on the Rising Tour. This show also features the tour premiere of “War” as the U.S. prepares for war with Iraq.
2008: The Magic Tour begins its Canadian leg with a show at Bell Center in Montreal. A local reviewer informs us that the sax solo on “Livin’ in the Future” was played by Clarence Thomas… what a surreal guest appearance that must have been.
2012: Bruce is a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he pokes fun of himself by dressing as his Born in the U.S.A.-era self for a parody of “Sexy and I Know It.” Later Bruce and the band (plus Tom Morello) premiere “Death to My Hometown” and “Jack of All Trades” and play a rare “The E Street Shuffle.” Watch Bruce’s performance and interview below.
2014: Night two in Auckland, New Zealand again features an acoustic cover of “Royals” to open, along with another full album performance–this time Born to Run.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City.
2023: For the first time since the tour’s opening week, the entire E Street Band is on stage and COVID-free, as Bruce’s 2023 World Tour makes a stop at Ball Arena in Denver. Earlier in the day, Bruce stops into a Peruvian goods shop in Larimer Square.
