1970: Steel Mill plays a final California gig at the College of Marin and then hurries home by car across the country to make a gig in Virginia three days later.
1973: Bruce had planned this day to be the start of a two-week stint opening for Paul Butterfield’s Better Days, but most of the tour is cancelled for poor ticket sales. Unfortunately, Bruce and the band are already in Los Angeles when they learn this.
1974: Bruce and the still unnamed E Street Band play two shows at The Main Point in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
1977: On an off-day following his show in Chicago, Bruce attends the taping of Melissa Manchester’s appearance on Soundstage.
1982: Although nominated for Best Rock Vocal Performance (Male) for “The River,” Bruce loses the Grammy Award to Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl.”
1993: Bruce is nominated for two Grammy Awards but loses both: Human Touch loses to Eric Clapton’s Unplugged in the Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male category; “Human Touch” loses to “Layla” in the Best Rock Song category.
2021: The United States v. Bruce Springsteen convenes via Zoom (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Bruce is cleared of drunken and reckless driving charges but pleads guilty to consuming alcohol in a prohibited federal area on November 14 of the previous year. Bruce is assessed $540 in fines and penalties, which he pays immediately.
