New for 2023: Audio for 1975
Bruce and the E Street Band open for Sha Na Na at the Ohio Theater in Columbus.
Bruce and the band play two shows at The Main Point in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
Bruce and most of the band drop by WMMR-FM in Philadelphia for a stint as guest DJs with Ed Sciaky. That evening, the boys play a gig at the Tower Theater, where they tour premiere “Mountain of Love.” Steve is gone by that point, though–he takes ill early in the set and has to skip the remainder.
It’s the world premiere of “Because the Night,” played for the very first time at CBGB in New York City–by both Bruce and Patti Smith. Patti’s recording of the song is in the can but still months away from release; when Bruce drops by her show tonight, Patti decides to premiere it, and Bruce lends his guitar and backing vocals. Perhaps Bruce might have joined Patti and her band on another song or two if not for the fire inspectors who prematurely halt the show.
Bruce and the E Street Band near the end of the Darkness Tour, but before they do they make a return visit to Detroit, this time playing the larger Cobo Arena.
Bruce and Patti welcome Jessica Rae Springsteen into the world, and Little Steven gets to break the news on stage.
The soundtrack for the film Philadelphia is released, featuring a song Bruce wrote for the movie, “Streets of Philadelphia.” It will soon win him an Oscar.
Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City, still using the “B” set list due to Patti’s illness. In attendance tonight: shoe designer Faryl Morse.
