1973: Newly discovered contemporaneous press coverage (dated December 26 1973) suggests Bruce played a show (or at least was scheduled to) at the Shaboo Inn in Willimantic Connecticut.
1978: Bruce and the E Street Band play a Darkness Tour show at the Tucson Community Center Arena. Before the show, Bruce gives an interview to San Francisco radio station KSAN-FM. It will be aired two days later during what will prove to be one of Bruce’s most legendary shows.
1984: Bruce and the band play their first of two Born in the U.S.A. shows at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis.
1987: Bruce appears at the All Star Benefit for the Homeless Children at Madison Square Garden. Like the name suggests, the talent line-up is stellar, making for some amazing moments: Bruce, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Ruben Blades, and Lou Reed all back Dion DiMucci for “A Teenager in Love;” Bruce plays a solo acoustic “Born to Run;” Paul Shaffer’s World’s Most Dangerous Band tackles “Glory Days” with Bruce, Paul, and Billy. Check out highlights and news coverage from this amazing show below.

1997: Bruce makes a guest appearance at Joe Grushecky’s acoustic show at Cheers in Long Branch, New Jersey.
2002: Bruce and the E Street Band take the Rising Tour to the Pepsi Arena in Albany, where they close the show with “Around and Around,” not played in 24 years.

2009: Bruce gathers the E Street Band at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, where they film a live performance of every track from Darkness on the Edge of Town to an empty room. The performance will be released the following year as part of the box set for The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story but can also be viewed on Bruce’s official YouTube channel.
Also today: the release of The People Speak, a documentary featuring a contribution from Bruce playing over the credits–a beautiful, acoustic “This Land Is Your Land.”
2017: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City. In attendance tonight: actor Iain Armitage.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its final week of shows at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City. At the theater, French media star Antoine de Caunes interviews Bruce.
2021: Bruce performs a rare post-pandemic electric set at Steve Earle’s annual John Henry’s Friends Benefit, including team-ups with Willie Nile on “Glory Days,” “Pink Cadillac” with Steve Earle, and a finale ensemble on “Teach Your Children.”
Out of curiosity, I tried to find out more about the Shaboo Inn and the Bruce show. Sounds like it never happened based on articles in the Hartford newspaper and Brucebase. The venue sounded interesting with lots of acts who came through (presumably for shows between New York and Boston).
