1971: The Bruce Springsteen Band is in residence at the Student Prince in Asbury Park.
1972: Bruce and his band kick off a six-night, two-shows-nightly stand at Kenny’s Castaways in New York City. Bruce starts each show with a brief solo set before bringing out the band.
1975: Bruce and the E Street Band record a pair of Christmas greetings for WHFS in Bethesda. That evening they play a local show at nearby Georgetown University.
1978: The Darkness Tour travels south to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
1987: Bruce joins Cats on a Smooth Surface on stage at The Stone Pony for six songs, including “Wooly Bully” and “Little Latin Lupe Lu.”
1992: Bruce and his new touring band bring World Tour 1992 to the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
1995: Bruce plays a solo acoustic show at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC–twenty years after he last played there.
1996: Bruce plays a solo acoustic show at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina.
1998: BBC produces and airs a documentary to coincide with the release of Tracks: Bruce Springsteen: A Secret History. It’s very well done and highly recommended viewing–watch the full show below:
2002: Bruce and the E Street Band take the Rising Tour north to the Air Canada Center in Toronto.
2003: After taking a year off (due to the Rising Tour) Bruce resumes his annual Asbury Park holiday show tradition, holding the first of three benefit concerts at Convention Hall in support of local charities. The Max Weinberg 7 once again serves as the house band, and this year guests include the Victorious Gospel Choir, Bobby Bandiera, Soozie Tyrell, Patti Scialfa, Jesse Malin, Garland Jeffreys, Steve Van Zandt, Southside Johnny, Sam Moore, the Alliance Singers, Lisa Lowell, and Nils Lofgren. Lots of gems in the setlist, including the world premiere of “None But the Brave.”
2009: Bruce is honored by John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, first at a reception at the White House, later at the Kennedy Center in a televised tribute by Jon Stewart, Ron Kovic, John Mellencamp, Melissa Etheridge, Eddie Vedder, Jennifer Nettles, Ben Harper, and Sting.
2017: Bruce returns to the stage after more than a week off to continue his theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York.
2018: Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City. Patti is absent tonight, so Bruce treats audiences to the show’s rare alternate set list.
