1971: At the Student Prince in Asbury Park, Bruce makes a guest appearance at the debut performance of The Sundance Blues Band, led by Steve Van Zandt and Southside Johnny, and featuring Vini Lopez, Garry Tallent, and Joe Hagstrom.
1976: Bruce plays in Alabama for the first time, at a very sparsely-attended show at the Boutwell Memorial Auditorium in Birmingham.
1988: MTV premieres a new documentary, Inside the Tunnel of Love.
1992: While Bruce rehearses with his new band in Los Angeles for his upcoming tour, riots take place only blocks away following the acquittal of four police officers who were captured on video beating Rodney King. The incident and riots will influence Bruce’s set list arrangements and performances throughout the tour.
1994: Imagine this line-up: Bruce joins James Brown on stage at the opening of the West Hollywood House of Blues for “Get Up – I Feel Like Being a Sex Machine,” with Dan Aykroyd, Magic Johnson, Wesley Snipes, and Woody Harrelson on backing vocals.
1996: Bruce brings his solo acoustic tour to Strasbourg, France.
2000: “Dancing in the Dark” makes its Reunion-era debut in a unique and short-lived country arrangement at the Firstar Center in Cincinnati.
2003: Back-to-back benefits: following the previous night’s benefit for Bobby Bandiera Jr., Bruce plays a benefit for the Rumson County Day School at The Stone Pony with much of the same line-up: Patti Scialfa, Jon Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny, and Bobby Bandiera.
2005: Nils Lofgren makes a guest appearance on a gorgeous “This Hard Land” at Bruce’s solo acoustic show in Glendale, where Bruce plays “Book of Dreams” for the first time in thirteen years and debuts “All I’m Thinkin’ About.”
2006: In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Bruce and the Sessions Band kick off their tour with an emotional, legendary show at New Orleans Jazz Fest. This show is available as part of Bruce’s official archive series–get it here, and watch the entire show below.
2008: Bruce opens with a rare “Loose Ends” when the Magic Tour stops for a night at the John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia.
2013: Night Two in Oslo starts off strong with the tour premiere of “Leap of Faith.”
2015: Bruce and the E Street Band attend the funeral of Lenore Travis, wife of concert producer and long-time friend George Travis. Bruce, Nils and Patti perform “I Wanna Marry You” and “If I Should Fall Behind.”
2023: Night Two of the European leg of Bruce’s 2023 World Tour kicks off with the tour premiere of “My Love Will Not Let You Down” in Barcelona.
