New for 2023: Audio for 2006

Still transitioning from Child to Steel Mill, Bruce and the band open for Chicago Transit Authority at Randolph-Macon College.

The Bruce Springsteen Band is in residence at the Student Prince in Asbury Park.

Rocker John Eddie catches his first Bruce Springsteen concert when Bruce and the band play a gig at Camden County College.

Bruce plays his first-ever show in Sweden when the Born to Run Tour arrives in Stockholm. The sound quality isn’t great, but these are the first notes the E Street Band ever play in Sweden.

Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. is certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

That evening, Bruce and the E Street Band bring the Darkness Tour to Northwestern University.

Born to Run is certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Bruce takes ill and is forced to cancel his scheduled concert in Lexington only six hours before showtime. Meanwhile, Bruce’s former band plays without him (but with Darlene Love, Ronnie Spector, Mitch Ryder, and others) in Red Bank at a benefit to fight hunger.

Bruce releases his eleventh studio album, The Ghost of Tom Joad.

That afternoon, Bruce rehearses for his upcoming solo acoustic tour at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, where he will open the tour the following day. He takes a break from rehearsing, though, to grant an interview to Bob Costas.

That same evening, Bruce plays a rehearsal show for his upcoming solo acoustic world tour at the New Jersey State Theater in New Brunswick, where most of the album’s tracks get their live debuts.

One year later, the Ghost of Tom Joad Tour is still going strong. Bruce plays tonight at the Murat Theater in Indianapolis, where he tour premieres “Working on the Highway.”

Bruce and the reunited E Street Band play a show at the Pepsi Arena in Albany.

Bruce arrives in Florida for a week of shows, starting with a night at TD Waterhouse Center in Orlando, where Bruce tour premieres “It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City,” “Human Touch,” and “Detroit Medley.”

Bruce closes out his solo acoustic tour with a pair of shows at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton. Tonight is Night One, and Bruce opens with a world premiere: a cover of Link Wray’s “Rumble” in memory of Wray. But the big surprise comes late in the set: the return of long-lost “Song for Orphans,” unplayed for 32 years, with support from keyboard tech Alan Fitzgerald.

Almost a year to the day later, Bruce is wrapping up another tour–this time at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, where the Seeger Sessions Band plays their final gig. Bruce pulls one last tour premiere out of his hat: a beautiful arrangement of “Mansion on the Hill.”

Bruce releases the first single and title track from his upcoming album, “Working on a Dream.”

Springsteen on Broadway continues its theatrical run at the Walter Kerr Theater in New York City. In attendance tonight: Danny DeVito, Chris Martin, and Paul McCartney.

Bruce assembles the E Street Band for the fourth day of a five-day recording session that will yield Letter to You.
