Twice only: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band cover one of the greatest rock anthems of the 1980s.
Month: March 2015
The early E Street Band had a lot in common with the late Bruce Springsteen Band, and nowhere was that more apparent than in their cover of Rufus Thomas’ “Walking the Dog.”
Bruce Springsteen has given us hundreds of fantastic covers over the years. This isn’t one of them. (But it’s worth a listen anyway.)
Throughout the Darkness Tour, Bruce often announced his arrival with the song that announced the arrival of rock itself.
Two bands, one venue, and one great tribute: watch Bruce Springsteen cover Bob Seger’s first great hit.
Bruce’s “Out in the Street” is essentially the same song as The Easybeats’ “Friday on My Mind,” a fact Bruce playfully acknowledged by playing them back-to-back in Sydney.
Before Bruce had Kevin Buell to lean on, when he broke a guitar string it was Clarence Clemons to the rescue. Originally a lark, Clarence’s rendition of “Gimme That Wine” became a genuine (if rare) highlight when on-stage misfortune would strike.
Bruce covered Buddy Holly’s hit “Oh Boy!” three times on the Darkness tour.
The Bee Gees’ 1978 hit single inspired once of Bruce’s best and most unexpected covers ever.
Twice only: Bruce paid tribute to The Man in Black after his passing by opening his shows with a lovely acoustic cover of “I Walk the Line.”
