New for 2023: Audio for 1981 and 2009; video for 2013 and 2016

1971: The Sundance Blues Band plays two gigs–first at the Student Prince from 9:30pm to 1:00am, and then at the Upstage from 2am to 5am.

1981: Night Two of six at the Brendan Byrne Arena’s opening stand in East Rutherford features the tour premiere of “Summertime Blues” and a guest appearance by Gary U.S. Bonds on “Jole Blon” and “This Little Girl.”

1985: Bruce plays “Seeds” for the first time ever at the first of three shows at Wembley Stadium in London, and Steve Van Zandt briefly reunites with the band during the encore for “Two Hearts,” “Ramrod,” and “Twist and Shout.”

1988: At Night Two in Stockholm on the Tunnel of Love Tour, the show is broadcast on radio stations around the world. Bruce plays “Downbound Train” and “Quarter to Three” for the first time on the tour, and he announces his participation in the upcoming Amnesty International Human Rights Tour. Bruce performs “Chimes of Freedom” immediately after the announcement, and that performance will be officially released as the title track of an EP later in the year. The entire show is now available as part of the official archive series (get it here, and listen to the original radio pre- and post-shows below) and is well worth many repeated listens.

1992: World Tour 1992 arrives in Barcelona for the first of two nights at Plaza Monumental. Local news coverage below.

2009: In Frankfurt, Bruce and the E Street Band pull out the Working on a Dream tour premieres of “Factory” and “Point Blank.”

2013: Bruce brings the Wrecking Ball Tour to Geneva for a night, where a solo piano “The Promise” is an encore highlight.

2016: The first of two nights in Milan kicks off with a surprise for Bruce: an amazing fan tribute that spans the entire stadium. But that’s not all that makes this show special: Bruce treats early arrivals to a pre-show “Growin’ Up” and plays the tour premiere of “Lucille.”

2021: Springsteen on Broadway continues its return engagement at the St. James Theater in New York City. In attendance this evening: Maggie Haberman and Preet Bharara.
